Near the Place du Vieux-Marché

Our gastronomic discoveries in Rouen included the sleek contemporary bistro Le 37, 37 rue St-Étienne-des-Tonneliers, opened by Michelin starred chef Gilles Tournadre, but sadly it has closed, as has the charmingly traditional le Bistrot de Panurge on Rue Ecuyère, where we feasted on its delectable gigot, roast leg of lamb.
Chef Gilles Tournadre can be found at his more upscale Restaurant Gill at 8-9, quai de la Bourse, on the corner of Rue de la Champmesle, along the Seine. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
Rouen has some other decent options for lunch or dinner, including Gilles and Sylvie Tournadre’s second restaurant in Rouen, Gill Côté Bistro, 14 Pl. du Vieux Marché, the “gastronomic heart” of Rouen, where you’ll find a lunch menu for 23,90€, served from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm. Open daily.
La Galerie, with chef Bruno Poret, is around the corner at 4 Rue Sainte-Croix-des-Pelletiers. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
le P’tit Zinc is also in the gastronomic heart of Rouen at 20 Pl. du Vieux Marché. The lunch menu is from 23,50€ to 28€, served daily from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm. Closed on Sundays.
Le Bistrot d’Arthur nearby at 27 Rue Cauchoise, is open daily for lunch from 12:00 noon to 2:15 pm, with menus starting at 15,90€ . Closed Sunday night.
La Marmite, 3 Rue de Florence, offers market menus of 29€ and 39€. They will be closed for the holidays from 17 December through 10 January.
Chef Hakim Benallal’s Le 6ème Sens, the 6th Sense, in a 18th-century vaulted cellar at 2 Rue Thomas Corneille, is offering a special Christmas Eve menu for 69€. The regular lunch menu starts at 25€.
